Alexandria Motorcycle Police and a North Ridge Kid North Ridge fosters Alexandria public safety partnerships each year as part of National Night Out on August 1.

The North Ridge Citizens' Association (NRCA) proudly estimates that more than 300 Alexandria residents took part in the 2017 NRCA National Night Out celebration, "Light Up the Night, North Ridge!", along with public safety representatives from every city agency. The event took place at the field behind George Mason School (2601 Cameron Mills Rd).

NRCA offered an evening of neighborly fun focused on building relationships between police, firefighters, emergency responders and neighbors, creating a stronger sense of community support for public safety efforts.

Rotating exhibitions by Alexandria City Police, Alexandria Sherriff's Office and the Alexandria Fire Department were highlighted, along with:

  • A live, local band the Derds
  • A classic car display provided by the Caribbean Classic Car Club of Alexandria
  • A summer picnic spread with Cafe Pizzaiolo pizza and Rocklands barbeque
  • Games, bubbles and glow sticks for kids
  • Rotating exhibitions by Alexandria City Police, Alexandria Sherriff's Office, Alexandria Fire Department and more

Event sponsors included:  The Liz Luke Team, MSAB and Lee Guerry.

Homeowners in North Ridge were also encouraged to turn on their front porch light for National Night Out.
